To Make Recommendations5On motion of Councilmen John | H. Layman and Duerk, the commission was requested to meet before the next council meeting and make recommendations.1 The matter had been brought to | council’s attention earlier in the evening by Loren A. Thiereff, 1301 Powell View Drive, who asked, ‘‘Who will have to pay lor streetassessments on lots on which it would be impossible to build?” Solicitor Charles A. Bakle advised him that the city would have to make up any deficiency, if the lots in question were sold for taxes.Thieroff also questioned the number of signers for the Powell View Heights paving. Engineer Ted G. Blue advised him that 62 per centof the foot frontage had been signed.He also questioned figures on the * police report; namely, 2163 hours in patrol cars for April and 14,812 miles covered, stating, ‘‘You can’t tell me police drive only six or seven miles per hour.Vernon Hendricks, safely dirct-! or, advised him that the hours! were shift time, part of which was j spent checking traffic and other duties.During the discussion of Dcr-row’s problem, it was pointed out [hat a city fire hydrant was in the center of one lot.
