Relatives in thecity prepared them a moat agreeable surprise, calling in the evening at their residence, 5211 Belle street, carrying with them some very handsome presents appropriate to the occasion, the most important one being an elegant and expensive silver water set. The only persons present outside theimmediate relatives were Mr. andMrs. W. E. Smith, who were their attendants on the ocoae ion of their marriage. Before they were well over this surprise thev were doomed to another prepared for them by the employes of Beall Brothers, who invited them to step into shop, when they were made the recipients of a handsome gift at the hands of said employes and which was formally presented by one ofthem in a neat little speech testifying their regard for the recipients, to which Mr. Beall appropriately responded. An abundance of provision for a sumptuous sapper had been prepared by the guests and a table was setin the east room of the shoo, of whichthe employees partook. It was notalone the Alton friends who had the advantage of the victims, as one In Colorado also remembered them handsomely. Mr. and Mrs. Beall will long remember with pleasure this happy occasien and their numerous friends join the guests in wishing them many happy returns of the anniversary.***** VimiiPi
