Leonard Ward FALTON — Leonard James Ward, 79, fortified with the 7 sacraments of the Holy Moth- n er Church, entered into rest at C 5:16 p m. Tuesday, April 29, 1 1997. at St Anthony’s Hospital C in Alton iBorn Jan 19. 1918. in Walk-erville. he was a son of the late / Joshua and Elizabeth (Pence) t Ward 1He retired in 1948 from Standard Oil Co. in Wood Riv- er, where he had been t employed for many years i He married the former Har- c rict D. Hess Nov. 20, 1941, at !■ St. Mary’s Church in Alton. * She survives. lt;Also surviving are three '• sons, William K. Ward of lt;Alton, James L. Ward of Phoe- 1 nix and Thomas E. Ward of 1 Alton; three daughters, Janice 3 M. Ward, Mary K. Ward and Susan E. Ward, all of Alton; two brothers, Paul Ward and Pete Ward, both of Alton; 1 three sisters, Della Betz of Jerseyville, Alice Baze of Alton and Lillian Kirgan of White Hall; and seven grandchildren, Danny Ward. David Miller, Patricia Miller, Stephen Ward. Carol Ann Guerrero, William Ward and Julie Cope.He was preceded in death by a son, David E. Ward; a daughter, Patricia A. Ward; and a brother, Lorenzo Ward.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Burke-Kine F'uneral Home, 727 Langdon St. in Alton, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Alton, with the Rev. Bill Brown as celebrant.Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.For those desiring, memorials may be given as masses.
