^ROM the first records ofGrace English Lutheranchurch we gather the following history: “As a result ofc o nrscissing bycertain parties interested in theorganizationofanLutheran church for WEnglishan English service was airanged for with the aid of thtchairman of the board of missions ofWi synod.”This service was held at thtGerman Lutheran church onWhday evening, Dec. 6, 1908. Theservice was conducted by Rev.E. Dornfeld, chairman of theboard of missions. After thisservice a petition was drawnand an appeal made to thtboard of missions of the Wconsin synod to send a pastorto Waukesha to canvass thelield and to establish an English Lutheran church.The Free Methodist churchon Beechwood ave. was procured as a meeting}andthe first service was held onDec. 26, 1908. Services wereheld every Sunday evening bythe Rev. E. DornfeldMilkee.Ontution was1909, a consti-mnmir«Free Methodist Church on Beech-wood ave., purchased by (irateEnglish Lutheran Churchin 1912mission board chose the Rev.Henry WoyahnLutheran seminary, then located in Wauwatosa, in June,to become the pastor ofThe call was accepted, and on Julyhe was ordained andof this congregation,office he still holds tu thepresent day.On Jan. 7, 1912, the congregation decided to purchase the church property from the Free Methodist conference. In 1919the congregation erected a parsonage at 731 Beechwood ave.The congregation has felt theneed of a large church building the last years,andthefirst step inprogram wasexpansionpurchase ofthe Lang propertyof thepresent church.Conditionsompted the temporary postponement of further plans.The Lord’s blessing has beenthe work of this congrefrom the humbleupongation, andginning of six charter ; communicant members the con-16gregationhasgrowntoatees elected H.
