Scliaffer. of Latiesvilie. and the important event was celebrated in a most appropriate way. A goodly number of invited relatives aruf friends, from far and near, gathered at the Schaffer home • | early in the day to greet and congratulate these tood old people, and they spent the entire day.Among the number present were Rev. Arthur Jean, of Marengo, who was pastor of the Lanesviile M. E. church for five years, who was ae-eomj^juMtffJ VA- bis wife and baby, andRev. ]•’. i'. Raaf. of New Salisbury, who. some ylt; ars ago. was the pastor at Eanesville for three y#ars.Just before the noon hour the guests were all invited into the parlor where- a brief but beautiful and impressive ceremony was conducted by the two pastors. Rev. Jean led in sinsr-fjing “Blessed be the Tie That Rinds”, with Allen Bfcnson at the organ. Most of the guests joined in the singing, after which Rev. Jean offered prayer, j Then Rev. Raaf asked the bride and groom of fifty years to take their place in the center of the room, which they did, standing under the decorations of white and gold, and Rev. Raaf. made e oeautiful talk about the ■'Ideal Home, concluding by asking Mr. and Mrs. Schaffer whether they could and vtould like to repeat their vows of fifty years ago, and they answered yes. They were then asked to join their right bands and they a-gain renewed the marriage pledge, following which they led the way to the dining room followed by as many of tin- u!.i'sts as could be alt; commo-daled at one time. Seated next to the happy old pair were Mr. Schaffer s, brother, Jacob Schaffer. M»s. Schaffer's brother and sister. David A. Siqil.r and Mrs. Emily Sonm-r. of Washington township, and their old friend. Mr. Thomas Lyskovv inski. aged eighty seven.Mr, and Mrs. Schaffer were the recipients of a large number of beautiful and valuable presents, among which were a number of gold coins.The dinner was a feast of good things, w hich was fully enjoyed by all present.\fter dinner Mr. Albert Burkhart. Georgetown's popular photographer, appeared on the scene with his camera and took a picture of *lie as-i- i semhled guests.Mr. and Mrs. Schaffer are tine old people and they are universally loved ami respected. Mrs. Schaffer was formerly Miss Ella Simler. and is a 'daughter of the late John Simler. They have mo children.
