of 74 years, 7 months and 19 days.When Bill was 6 years old his father died unexpectedly.Margaretand the kids continued to live on the home place north of Fair-bury.H e graduated from the Fairbury High School class of 1953, and he and Rita Fletcher were married in September of that same year. To this union four children were born.They lived near Longmont, Colo., where Bill and his brother, Gail were partners in a dairy.Bill and Rita purchased the farm near Endicott, where they have lived ever since.He farmed and worked various other jobs to support them. These included working in a sugar beet plant in Colorado, helped pour the fdundation for Central school in Fairbury, delivered milk for Ted Tippin’s daily, hauled eggs for Dal-e Robinson’s produce company, worked for Jim Johnson’s scrap iron company, employed at Endicott Clay Products, farmed for Dr. Rice and sold fertilizer to customers in Beatrice and Lincoln.Through his and Rita’s hard work and sacrifice they eventually added livestock and more farm ground to their operation.He was one of the first farmers in the area to try notill farming.‘He loved everything about farming and his children inherited that love for rural life and his strong work ethic.His sons joined them in the farming operation.His health forced him to slow down the last few years.He is survived by his wife of 56 years; brother, Gail and wife, Lois of Thornton, Colo.; sons, Chuck and wife, Kri^, Gary and wife, Diane, all of Endicott; daughter, Sherry Morehead and husband, Jim of Fairbury; grandchildren, Justin Stone and wife, April of Lincoln, Beau Stone and wife, Afra of Tijauna, Mexico, Tanner Stone of Papillion, Kaleb Stone, Carly More-head, both of Fairbury, Drew, Colton, and Amelia Stone, all of Endicott, Allisa Beek-man and husband, Ryan of Holland, Dusty Morehead of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Reese and Dalton Stone of Lincoln, Emmett Mitchell, Mollie and Gradey Beekman of Holland.Services were held February 22 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fairbury with Father John Birkel. Music was provided by Carolyn Osborne. Pallbearers were Justin Stone, Dusty Morehead, Colton Stone, Beau Stone, Kaleb Stone, Tanner Stone and Drew Stone. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Junker, Laverne Schwartz, Roger Schoenrock,Pat Kujath, Howard Hynek, Bruce Stanton and Louie ft Krepcik. Burial will be at a g later date. e
