This business prospered and in 1920 he formed the Star Shoe and Cloth -ing company, located on North Jefferson.To Present LocationThree years later increased volume pi business necessitated ntoving to the larger location orr South Jefferson which has been occupied since that date.About 1930 the firm’s' name was changed to the Litwin Department Stores and the company opened a store in Emporia.. In rftpid succession through the depression years additional stores were opened at Chanute, Independence, Ottawa, Ft. Scott, Parsons and CofffeyviUe*.To Florida For VacationDuring recent months Mr. Lit-win’s health has not been robust and he has gone to Florida With Mrs. Litwin for a vacation. He expects to make Iola his home but will not take an active part ;in the business from now on.Ben Litwin has been imade general manager of the firm arid will act as buyer of men’s merchandise. Morris Litwin, Independence, will be in charg* of purchasing Women’s apparel.Mr. Newcomb, new manager of the Iola store, has been with Litwin’s for over three years and will maintain the policies established here.
