Edwina Akins104th birthday event to fete Edwina AkinsAn open house is slated March 30 in celebration of the 104th birthday of Edwina Akins. She lives in the long-term unit of Ot-. tawa County Hospital, 215 E. Eighth, Minneapolis.The event is planned for 3:30 to . 5 p.m. in the hospital's all-purpose room.• Hosts are her son, Salinan Richard N. Gary, and two grandsons, Charles, and his wife, Eunice, of Salma and Richard S. of Hutchinson.A third grandson will be unable : to attend. There also are three great-grandchildren.The honoree was born March 30,1893, in Leon, and has lived primarily in Minneapolis. She worked as a school lunch assistant at Minneapolis Grade School. She married Frank Akins• in 1978. He died in 1993.
