Ackland, Dated in JulyMrs. Maurice Ackland received ?■ L. card a week ago Thursday from g her husband, Maurice Ackland, a civilian internee in a Japanese prison camp on the island of Han-shu.The message read:“Dear Esther: I am fairly well. Thinking of you daily.May God1 grant us a speedy reunion. Love to all.” Al-lt;| though the card was typewritten it had been signed in Maurice’s own handwriting. It was dated July 1944. The last direct communication had been dated November 18, 1941.Mr. Ackland was employed on Wake Island' by a construction company and has been held a prisoner since the oaipture of the Island in December 1941. According to the company nothing had been heard from their more than 200 workers until in Dec., 1943.
