Mt. Vernon Couple Wed 55 YearsMr. and Mrs. Joe V. Rector of Route 2, Mt. Vernon. observed their 55th wedding anniversary at their home Sunday, March 14th, with a family gathering and a Sunday dinner.Mrs. Rector is the former Minnie Whitsell of Mt. Vernon. Mr. Rector retired from the Mt. Vernon Car Manufacturing Co. of Mt. Vernon and was custodian at the Rogers Building until his retirement.They are the parents of ten children.The dinner guests included Donald Rector and son Jeff of Waukegan; Mrs. Wilford Rector of Mt. Vernon; Thelma Rector at home; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker and children Roger and Marsha. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker Jr., all of Woodlawn; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mailer and children Mike, Jim, Bobby and Brenda of Johnston City; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rector and children Dinah, Chris, Richard and Shelia of Kell; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Huff and children Melissa, Deanna, Kenny and Christine of Elk-ville: and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sumner and daughter Lisa of Opdyke.A son, Wilford Rector, was in the hospital recovering from surgery and a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Wilma) Larson of Seneca, was unable to attend. One daughter, Roberta Gaskins, is deceased.They have 30 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
