Pago 7—The Uobesonian, Friday, March ij, l§73Bennett NamedMORRIS BENNETTMorris Bennett of 213 Elmhurst Drive was elected Chief of the Lumberton Rescue Unit at the organization'smeeting Monday night.Bennett replaces former Chief Ewing Taylor, who has been chief for the last year and twomonths. Taylor will remain with the squad in other capacities.Other Lumberton Rescue Unit officer’s include: BobbySessoms, assistant chief; John Hendren, captain; Harold Lee, Roger Parker, and J. F. Thorn-dyke, sergeants; and secretary Dennis Little.Frank Ledwell and RogerParker were elected to represent the Lumberton Rescue Unit in the Robeson County Association of Rescue Squads, with James Thomdyke being selected as an alternaterepresentative.Along with the unit’s officers, members N. A. Martin and John Cox serve on the executive board.Captain John Hendren is training officer with TedWilliams serving as hisassistant.Bennett has been an active member of the unit since 1969. He has served as captain for a total of four years, and has served as a sergeant severaltimes.He is married to the former Jerri Hewell Soles, and they have one son, Timmy.Action wa% light Wednesday in Robeson County District Court here with Judge John S. Gardner presiding.An uncontested divorce was granted by the jury in the case of Thomas Jessie Mitchell vs. Daisy Stokes Mitchell.Trial was scheduled in the case of Dr. James Lloyd Pate against Brantley R. Hayes, but settlement was reached before trial could begin. The action was to recover property damages from an automobile accident. The judgment has not beenentered.
