Donald Head, former minister of the church, will participate in the service. Mrs Edna Condon, church moderator, will give some highlights of the church’s history The Sanctuary Choir will sing The King of Love My Shepherd Is and Charles Linck will render a solo. In Mv Father's House Dr Melvin Dollar, current pastor, will be in charge of the service. Following the service, there will he a reception in the church parlor, honoring the 30 members who have been active members for over 5ft years.Bethel Church was organized in 1885 and met in the original church building on Holt Street, until the present building was erected in 1912 Prior to the erection of the original church building, the congregation met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moore, charter members of the church The present sanctuary and mainbuilding were erected by Byron Campbell, who is still an active member of the church. In 1962 the Christian Education Building was erected by Robert Campbell, son of Byron Campbell, who became president of Campbell Construction Company upon his father's retirement.Since the Bethel Church was organized soon after the incorporation of the city of Ontario, it has played a major role in working with the city and other community organizations in the development of the city. The church has always been vitally interested in the total needs of the city and its efforts have gone beyond ministering to the members of its church family.Bethel Church is a member of the United Church of Christ, formerly known as the Fellowship of Congregational Christian Churches, which has approximately 2 million members and is represented in every state of the nation It believes in and is dedicated to working ecumenically with other religious bodies in uniting Christians of all denominations in the common task of developing Christian character and a wholesome sociotv• f f B I i it (in r u n r/nThis is a photograph of the original church building, erected by members of Bethel Congregational Church, Ontario, on Holt Street in 1885. The inset photo at top right shows the congregation's present building. F Street and Euclid Avenue, that was erected by ByronCampbell, still an active member of the church. Before the Holt building was constructed, members met in the home of Mr. and Mrs Joseph Moore, charter members of the church Bethel Congregational will celebrate its 90th anniversary Sunday at the church.
