Ohwnc Golden Wedding AnniversaryORIENT Mr. and Mrs. Robert Greenlief of Orient, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday afternoon, March 9. Open house was held from 2 to 5 p m. in the parlors of the Plymouth Congregational church in Orient. About J00 relatives, neighbors and friends called to express wishes for their continued health and happiness.The church parlors were decorated with the Golden Wedding theme. Bouquets and potted plants with blossoming gold flowera were gifts from their friends and’ relatives.As the guests arrived, they were welcomed by the three sons of the honored pair: Lloyd, Everett and Thomas Green lief.Mrs. Clare Jay acted as dinin0 room hostess. In charge of registering the guests was Mrs. Roy Jes sup and in charge of the gifts was Mrs. Roy James. The couple received many nice gifts and a purse of money. They also received a great many messages of congratulations.The reception table was linen covered and centered by a three tiered, colonaded wedding cake, which was topped w ith a gold “50, gold roses and leaves, and featuring white swans. Napkins bore the inscription in gold, “Bob and Myi tie- 1908-1958. Presiding at the reception table were the daughters-in-law, Mrs. Everett Green lief and Mrs. Lloyd Green lief, both of California.Myrtle Green and Robert Greon-Jief were married, March 12, 1908, at the home of the bride’s parents in Creston. Rev. James McMay performed the ceremony. They established their home on a farm in the Zion community where they lived until moving to Orient in 1931.They are the parents of three sons, Thomas of Palm Desert, Calif., Everett of Westchester, Calif., and Lloyd of Canoga Park, Calif. There are four grandchildren, Robert, Eugene and Lynette the children of the Everett Green-liefs, and Mrs. Joan Cox, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Greenlief. All were present Sunday with the exception of Mrs. Thomas Greenlief and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cox.For her golden wedding attire, Mrs. Greenlief chose a rose dress with which she wore a gold carnation corsage with gold trim. Mr. Greenlief wore a gray suit and a gold carnation boutonniere. The corsage and boutonniere were gilts from their children.On the gift table was displayed a wedding picture of the honored couple. Pictures were taken of the couple during the afternoon.Ladies in charge of the kitchen were Ramona Buchanan, R o v a Zellweger, Carrie Johnson, Elsie Gustason, Ruth Diehl, Dorothy Lauer, Maude Holmes and Bertln Gark.Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Muves of Beardstown, 111., Mrs. Minnie Kios of Monroe, Mrs. Ernest Zell weger, Macksburg, Mr. and Mrs Fred Kingery, Pershing, Frank Kingery, Knoxville, Mrs. John Kingery of Batavia, Mrs. B o b Moon and Cathy of Kansas City, Kan. and Blanche and Orval Carter of Des Moines.
