A very pleasaot surprise was perpetrated upon Mr. Christian Butz of near Wawaka Monday, by about thirty-five of his near relatives and kin. The party was complimentary to Mr. Butz’ eightieth birthday anniversary and was something of a family reunion, there being present all of his children, four sons and five daughters and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and others. A “big dinner was served in the most appetizing country style, after which a speech was made by R. I). Blederraan, the Lutheran minister of Kcndallvllle. Theday wasdeiigblfully spent in general sociability and conversation, in wbicl) an active part was taken by Mr. Butz, who related many interesting anecdotes and incidents connected with his early life. The many pleasures of the day will tend to keep the event green io the memories of those present fur years to come.
