Johnson.Opening her review, Mrs. Johnson said, “The author reminds us that the characters in his novel are real and are found in that glittering period of the seventeenth century during the reign of Louis IV of ■France.”To Join Husbands in CaliforniaThe book is the result of nine years research in France and was completed in Illinois after the war crisis drove Mr. Meeker from Europe to his home in that state. It was chosen as the Book-of-the-Month for January.“The author,” Mrs, Johnson went on to say. “lost his heart to that period. However the prominent personages in history are touched lightly in tke pattern as a whole.” The plot concerns itself with the gossip, fripperies and burning love affairs of the heroines.
