Keeh Competition In Fight For CouncillorWHITELAW, February 27.-The election here on Saturday caused some little excitement leading in one case to the use of fists. The fact of there being five candidates for the one ward made thi gs more interesting. On Wednesday evening four of the Candidas s gave to the ratepayers an outline of their ideas on municipal government. A noteworthy fact was that the only man not taking an active part in themeeting was elected It wouldseem from this that the less electioneering in municipal elections the better.The standing of the five candidates were as follows:— Thompson 82 Maxey 47Henry 46Bodernuk 32Cox 3The Ladies’ Aid held an afternoon tea on election day, in the store of G. Reid. They report a very successful affair, a continuous stream of people finding it very convenient to refresh themselves during the strain of the election.
