Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Tuesday, March 2, 1965—*Central Wins Second in Region With One-Act Play 'Electra'Central High School’s one-act play took second place in regional competition in Tifton last night, earning considerable praise from the judges who said choosing between first and second place had been a very difficult and a very close decision.Fitzgerald, winning firstwith “The Fantasticks”, presented a musical comedy which earned the leading man, Bill Bailey, the award for “Best Actor.”Central’s entry was “Electra,” with Jennifer Pierson in the title role. Miss Pierson received the “Best Actress” medal for her performance. Robert Allen of the Central social studies department was the director.Third place winner was Mitchell County with “Anastasia” and Brooks County came in fourth with “Antigone”.In the Central cast wereTommy Rinchen as Orestes, Nelson Cooper as Jaedegogus, Nettie Cogar as Clytemnestra, Kenny Willis as Aegtsthus andLinda Murphy and Annie SueWatkins as the chorus.COSTUMES, which wereSTUDY CLASSThe Thomasville Study Class will hold Its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Study Class room at theThomasville Public Library.Mrs. Will Watt will present a program airveying the current situation in the Congo where, she said, although the United States is not now directly involved, it is deeply concerned about the explosive possibilities inherent there.Mrs. Watt’s resource material will come for recently published articles on the subject. and personal letters.Mrs. Lee Singletary will preside.cc-nplimented highly by the judges, were made by Mrs. Guy Willis and her daughter,Carolyn.Dee Jordan and Carolyn Watkins were in charge nf makeup, Mike Mumford and Charles Rogers handled the lighting, and Clayton Mims and Janice Adams were stage managers.Principal Erskine Mills accompanied the director, cast-, and crew to Tifton. r* The play was produced InThomasville Friday for a localaudience, along with a musicalprogram by some of Centralentries In the literary meet!—-—— .THOM HOMtD
