He said yesterday that there is a fair prospect that he will be able to make his nominations next Mondayevening. The mayor says further that he regards a board of health at the present time as being of more vital Importance than ever before In the history of Webb City, for the reason that now, perhaps for the first time, the ordinances recently passed are of a character that can be enforced, having been revised and made up to date with the latest provisions of the state laws. One of the most important duties of the new' board will be the enforcement of the ordinance calling for the connection of stores and office buildings in the central portion of the city with the existing district sewrers, which has j been so often talked of in previous j years, but has never resulted hitherto In practical measures. The names of between sixty and sev- i enty offenders have been reported, but the machinery must be set in motion through the city board of health soon to be appointed.Ignited.Dr. S. E. Huffhines, who has dentistparlors in the Wagner block over thepostoffice, became a victim of a peculiaraocident yesterday about noon, fromtvhlch he suffered severe burns, andhis office had a close call of becomingthe scene of a dangerous gasoline blaze. jThe doctor was trying out a new blov pipe apparatus whlnh, by the use of compressed air, is supposed to feed the pipe wMth a fine stream of gasoline. The experiment failed to work properly, and instead of the tiny flame that was expected, the air forced out a big stream of the liquid that spattered all over the side of the room. Close at hand, on the bench, was an open bottle of gasoline, which took fire at the spout and the tank on the blow pipe also tookfire. To avoid an explosion, Dr. Huffhines’ first thought was to get both receptacles out of the oullding, and in removing them some of the gasoline ran over his right hand and ignited instantly, causing several bad burns before he could put out the blaze. Notwithstanding the pain, he threw enough w'ater on the blazing w*all to put out the incipient fire before the department, wrhlch had been summoned by phone, had time to arrive.vtuttattPtanwna8rMRS.
