Fare fc, Sec. I The Hearne (Texas) Democrat, Friday, Jose 27,Items Of Interest From BenchleyBy Mrs. Sam Rice Sunday. June 22, 1958 marked the passing of another Henry reunion, which was held at the American Legion Grounds inBryan. The heavy rains of Saturday night kept many from coming, sickness in some families kept others away;while others didn’t come for various reasons. Nevertheless all who did attend had awonderful time and the “weather man” was very kind to us, the day being very cool compared to the previous days. The shade trees were lovely and the concrete made it nice walking, and plenty of chairs for every one, thanks to the American Legion, W. R. Henry and Roy Foster ofBryan, who had charge of arrangements, and to every one else who had any part in making it such a grand success.A lovely picnic lunch was serv_ ed by the ladies at 1 p.m. and to prove the Henrys love to eat, there was food enough left to serve a crowd twice as large as the one present. Thanks was offered by Bro. Adrain Griffin of the First Baptist Church of Bryan.I took my scrap books and the Henry records and we had an enjoyable time finding out what kin we were to each other and from what line we were from. The William, Robert, and James Henry lines were all represented. The oldest one present was Mrs. Lula Laski Henry, 88, wife of the late John A. Henry, of the William Henry line. The next was Mrs, Vash McMillan Gill-more, 85. Vernon D. Henry, 83. Mrs. Ulai Henry Peters, whocelebrated her 83rd birthday withHappy Birthday cake, candles and all Sunday, all of the James Henry line.Little Miss Jan Jones, 4, wasthe youngest one present. Sheleft her little six weeks old| brother at home so she couldcapture the honors as well as thehearts of every one present.
