At tho Mound cemetery a nine foot granite shaft lias been erected on tho top of tho largest Indian moundT in tho beautiful burial pint, and on the luce are the words Indian Mounds.'7 Those mounds have Wen there for more than two hundred years., according to historians, and when a number of them were investigated by the late Dr. P. R, Hoy aud others, years ago. skeletons of Indians, implements of war and other curiosities were unearthed. It was on account of these mounds that the plat was named Mound cemetery. Another improvement at the cemetery is the placing of a concrete basin at the natural spring near the bridge crossing the Sylvan Delh 1 •
