Edgar Spencer Taken By Death.. N ’ •BASSETT—Edgar Spencer of Bassett Rt. 4 died yesterday in a -Martinsville hospital after having been in declining health three years.Mr. Spencer, 76, was born inthe Bassett community March29, 1897, a son of the late Hereford and Rebecca TurnerSpencer. He spent all of his lifein the Bassett area and was a retired furniture worker. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of World War I.Surviving are his wife, May Clifton Spencer; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Stone pf Statesville, N.C.; two sons, J.D.1 Spencer of Martinsville and Joe Spencer of Pulaski; - six brothers, Grover, Widdie and Liss Spencer, all of Basselt, -Tom Spencer of' Axton, • A.C. Spencer of Danville and Aaron Spencer of Alexandria; six sisters, Mrs. Mattie Phillips, Mrs. Betty Payntor, Mrs. Addie Agee and and Mrs. Carlotta, Scott, all of Danville, Mrs. Delia Weatherford of Crewe and Mrs. Grace Milton of Providence, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Collins Funeral Chapel in Collinsville.
