MR. AND MRS.Montpelier—Many friends and relatives called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rinnert, Sr., Sunday to offer “congratulations*’to the life long residents of this township, when open house was held from the hours of 2 to 5 p m. and 7 to 10 p. m., in observance of the golden wedding anniversary of the couple. The wedding date was June 15, but dueto the death of a relative the celebration was postponed until Sunday.Pretty Decorations.The family home was prettilydecorated with gold streamershanging from the walls to the chandeliers, and garden bouquets. Refreshments of ice cream and yellow cake were served through-W Iout the afternoon and evening, at the table on which a large three tier golden wedding cake, weighing 10 1-2 pounds formed thecenterpiece. Those who assisted in serving were the Misses Luella and Vera Gamber, Teckla and Marian Rinnert. Mrs. Fred Rinnert, Jr., Mrs. William Gamberand Mrs. Edward Schroeder. The couple received a number of bouquets of flowers, gifts, and remembrances.Mrs. Catherine Sieh, sister ofMr. Rinnert, was the oldest person present. Mrs. Sieh is 84 years old. Miss Marilyn Watts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Watts, was the youngest person present. Marilyn is about two years old Several of the people present atthe golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rinnert, Sr.,also attended their silver wedding celebration, and the golden wedding celebration of Mr. Rinnert’sparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rinnert.Mrs. Rinnert wore a dress of navy blue and white crepe, ofjacket effect, and a shoulder corsage of white sweet peas and yellow roses which was presented to her by her granddaughter, Marian Rinnert, for the occasion.Wed in Muscatine.Mr. and Mrs. Rinnert weremarried June 15. 1886, at St.Mary’s church, Muscatine, at 9a. m. by the Rev. J. I. Grieser. The couple was attended by the latter’s sister, Miss Nora Stecher, and the former's brother, Ed Rinnert. Mrs. Rinnert wore a dressof floor length, medium brown taffeta made in Martha Washington style, trimmed in cream laceand many buttons, her hat was of cream colored straw with three white ostrich plumes. She wore white fingerless silk knit gloves,and carried a white feather fan. Mrs. Rinnert still has her wedding dress in her possession.Both Mr. and Mrs. Rinnert were born in this township. Mrs.Rinnert was formerly. Miss Cres-oentia Stecher. the daughter ofMr. and Mrs. Frank Stecher, who—Journal Photo and EngravingFRED RINNERT. SR.came to this township from Bad-den, Germany, and Mr. Rinnert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rinnert who were among the earliest pioneers of this township, also coming from Baravia, Germany. After their marriage they made their home on the farm on which they now live, and where | Mr. Rinnert farmed before theiimarriage. They also purchased two large farms, one being Mrs. Rinnert s birthplace, which is beingfarmed by his son, Fred. Jr., and ! the other on which they resideand farm with the assistance o!their daughter, Teckla, and son. Barney.Five children and one grandchild form the family circle. They are: Fred. Jr., and Mrs. EdwardSchroeder, both of this locality. Miss Teckla and Barney, at home. One son, Peter, died in infancy. Marian Rinnert is the only grandchild.Many Visitors.Those who called to help Mr. and Mrs. Rinnert to observe their wedding anniversary were: Mr. and Mrs. William Gamber and daughters; Luella and Vera and sons Harold and Duane.
