OCORRESPONDENCES.OMontrose.Junk 21—Keokuk has determined to celebrate on July 8d. Nauvoo Is also making extensive preparations to celebrate on the same day. Montrose has not de cided to have any celebration, and probably will not, on account of the celebration at Fort Madison, on the 2d and 3d prox., which has been published for months in the Fort Madison papers. Fort Madison is preparing at a vast amount of expense and trouble for the Soldiers’ Reunion, and we think that every old soldier and his family, within in a radius of fifty miles, aDd as much farther off as practicable, should be there, if plt; ssible, regardless of their local Celebration. A great many people and children in all places can notf;o far from home on public days and t may be well enoogh to get up something for their benefit at home, but the soldiers of Keokuk ant} Nauvoo will all be expected at your cjfy on the 2d and 3d.Tip Best Post will open negotiations with Nauvoo Post with reference to churtering the Ferry. If no arrangement can be made with Nauvoo, Montrose will be represented aud don’t you forget it.Charley Newberry was called to Keokuk on the 11 irtst. with his steam yacht Hope to take a fishing party fiom that city to Otter Bay, and they have kept him at that kind of business ever since wiih hardly spare time enough to run home for a boiled shirt. The rapids towboat Park Bluff broke a shaft last Friday and will not be ready for business for a week. The boat has been making from one to three trips a day, taking rafts outside of the canal. Rafis are now compelled to divide up and go through the locks or hire an extra crew of oarsmen and float over the rapids. The cottages continue going up on Bluff Park and there is plenty room for more.Montrose and Nauvoo went up to Mormon Springs yesterday on the ferry, that is quite a crowd, mostly young people from the two place.Edward Curtis sold nearly 1,000 cases of strawberries this year and several others ship(ed largely. There is no reason why the strawberry, raspberry and blackberry culture should not be increased a hundred fold in this vicinity, and that would bring us a canning factory. The Hog and Stray “Mool ordinances have pretty effectually cleared our streets of such uuisances.Unlike Keokuk, Montrose acknowledges having a few dogs One man has Ya rwenty-seven, most of which came to tow n ' for since'the Assessor made his annual visit.Wheat aud rye harvest has commenced.Jack Owens opened out on wheat and Wn Andrews, ,ir ,'rrn rye to-day, and’ Z.B Kiel is scllnfk the famous binder twine by i he ctml’Mrs Margaret Curetoq, of Powelton, tur 111 , visiied Mrs. Crandal last week.Mrs. Julia Burton, of Atlantic, Iowa, is visiting her brother 0.
