Couple observes59th anniversaryMr and Mrs. Lester Welch, 501 S. Santa Fe, quietly observed their 59th wedding anniversary Thursday.Welch has been retired 14 years from service as a conductor with the Santa Fe railroad Attached to the Rainbow Division in World War I, Welch helped to organize and was the first commander for the Chanute Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Mrs. Welch is a past president of the VFW Auxiliary and served a term as district VF'W Auxiliary president.Both have received their 50-year pins from the Order of the Eastern Star Mrs. Welch is a past matron of the order. Welch is a member of Cedar Masonic Lodge. They are members of the First Baptist Church.One of their pleasures was their cabin at Welda where Welch said he caught ‘‘some of the biggest fish they had ” The cabin was sold last year. Mrs. Welch is in Colonial Acres Nursing Home.Mr and Mrs. Welch have two children, Larry, 508 W. 7th, and Mrs. Lorraine Chism, Arlington, Tex. There are three grandchildren
