CELEBRATE50TH ANNIVERSARYMR. AND MRS. JOHN SEARLES OBSERVE WEDDING ANNIVERSARY WITH LUNCHEON AT HAW-COCK’S YESTERDAY NOON.Mr. and Mrs. John F. Searles, well known and long time Monmouth residents, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on June 5 and yesterday in honor of the occasion their daughter, Miss Minnie Searles gave a luncheon in their honor in Haw-cock’s dining room. The celebration ttas held yesterday instead of June 5, as the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Searles of Chicago, who were guests at the gathering, was awaited. They have been visiting in Fresno, Calif,, with their sister, Mrs. Henry Bates.A very unusual occurrance is the celebration of three golde wedding anniversaries within the same year in a family of three brothers and one sister. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Searles will observe their ftftietl anniversary on September 3. Mr. Searles is a brother of J. F. Searles of this city and Mrs. Aaron Searles was formerly Miss Martha Mosser of Salem. III.Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bates of Fresno will celebrate their golden wed din# day on June 26. Mrs. Bates was formerly Miss Fannie Searles and is a sister of J. F. and Aaron Searles. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Searles have one daughter, Minnie, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Searles have one daughter, Florence, and Mr. and Mrs. Bates have two daughters, Mrs. Evan Porter ard Mrs. Glasgow and two sons, John and William, who live in Fresno.Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Searles were married in Monmouth by I)*'. Mathews, one of the first Presbyterian ministers of the city. After theirmarriage they went to Rodgers Park, a suburb of Chicago, where they resided for six years and where Mr. Searles owned a Hardware store. After returning to this city Mr. Searles was employed in the Page and Chandler Hardware store and later he was owner of the Searles Laundry for many years. He was in business here for thirty two years and retired in 1917.It is not often that three families and their children, so closely related as these can celebrate such an occasion in one summer and their .many friends in thin city hasten to eftend congratulations. Both Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Searles and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bates were former Monmouth residents.
