Dear lug:! AM WRITING YOU concerning the Teton Dam Project, and would I Dm to express my views utt how valuable this project is to the State of Idaho in revenue to the State and income to the people of the area. The State will receive approximately $500,000.00 a year in revenue from this project through payroll taxes and other taxes, sucli as sales taxes. There are approximately three hundred and thirty people now working for the M. K.-Kiewit Company on the Teton Darn Project. This is a tremendous boost to the economy of Southeast Idaho in particular and to the State oT Idaho in general.Further, in my opinion, I don't think the State Fish and Game Department should be taking the stand Uiey are on the Teton Dam. They claim that if (he reservoir is built, it will be a haven for trash fish, tut what Ihey failed to mention is that the Teton River and its tributaries are already infested with trash fish, particularly rfBitch Creek” which the Department has tried to poison wilhout success. Also, the Ciame Department* failed to mention the fact that very few people arc brave enough to face the hazzards at the rattlesnake i it Tested canyon, so therefore, it Is almost useless as a fishing stream, They also failed to mention that the deer that do wander into the canyon for shelter and winter feed migrate down the canyon and become trapped between the walls and tu the deep snow and winter kill, I hoy never come out. It seems to me that the Fish and Game Department could realize the value of having a beautiful lake where thousands of people camp and fish rather than a rattlesnake infested canyon where no one wants to go, \Anyone who has seen the flood waters come out of the Teton River, the farm land destroyed, ar.d the homes flooded from the uncontrollable waters, could not help hut understand the need for the Teton Dam Project to be completed without any further delay or harrassment from any groups, especially any Department of the State of Idaho,Also, I think it is time Ihe people of Idaho who will benefit directly and indirectly, get on reeorrl supporting this valuable project. 1 am sure the ecology groups had never heard of a place called the Teton Rive runt it the Teton Dam was proposed, There was a thorough study made and every requirement has been met to insure that all environmental standards are met by the Company constructing the Teton Dam.Yours Truly,D.
