1IRti. RICHARD HATTOSMrs. Richard Hatton, wife of Paymaster Hatton, U. S. N., formerly Miss ElizabethStewart Cottman and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hough Cottman, of Baltimore, will he the sponsor for the new torpedo-boat destroyer which will be launched at 10,30 o'clock this morning at Cramps' shipyard, in Philadelphia.The new boat will be named the Warrington, in houor of Commodore Warrington, the great-graudfather of Mrs. Hatton. The lt;ommodore was one of the prominent figures in the history of his time. He whs born In 17K2 in Williamsburg, Va. He served under I’rcble during the war with Tripoli, and in 1814 commanded the Pei-j cock when she captured the British sloop of-war Epervler. Captain Wales, of the Efiervler, sent a handsome diamond ring to the wife of Commodore Warrington in token of the appreciation of himself and I crew for the respect and courtesy shown to them by their captors. This ring will be j worn by Mrs. Hatton at today’s christening. At the close of the war Commodore | Warrington was presented with a gold sword by the Stste of Virginia. awrarded a j gold medal by Congress and was made the j first honorary member of the Society of the Cincinnati. These valuable relics are now | the possessions of his grandson, Col. Charles St. John Chubb, of San Francisco.Two other grandchildren, Mrs. J. Hough Cottman, of Baltimore, and Mrs. John S. j Tucker, of Washington* will be present at today’s ceremonies. Other members of the family who will attend are Mr. Cottman. Mr. Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis W. Chubb, of Pittsburg, and Mr. Hatton.Last evening the party were guests at a | dinner and theatre party given In their honor by the president of the yard and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grove.
