During the year 185'., two aerea additional were purchased from John Walker, a* well as an entrance way from the Market street road from E. Hottel, also 1.7 acres from Rev. Geo. Buchanan. On July 4th of this year the grounds were opened with suitable services,and a large union picnic was held there, and the first lots were selected in August of that year.§ THE FTltST BTTKUXwas that of Wm. Wells, [yen, Miller and Walker, with a dona-on from Dr. Beatty it in time acquired je whole oi the ravine desired,extending fc the fourth street road, and increasing le whole to about 143.7* acres. In pril, 1870, the coal .under the cemetery as sold to the Steubenville Coal M»-iug company at $50 a:i acre. Work on le new road along Glen brook » the Fourth street road was begun in 871 ,aud finished the next year at a cost f about $2,300.
