She had been in failing healtli i for the past year and was critically ill since being last ; admitted to the hospital onWednesday.,__Mrs. Purdy was born at ; Shermansdale, Perry County, ; Oct. 29, 1893, daughter of the ‘ late Harry T*. and' Laura ; (Beard) Shearer. Her early life J was lived in Waynesboro and ( the family moved to York in 1-♦ * ■* Wt s * ^ ♦1928, ;Her first husband, Clyde G. Hoover, died in 1942.Mrs. Purdy was employed at JWeist’s Department Store in lt;York for a number of years. 1She and- Mr. Purdy were lt;married in June, 1950, and had 1lived in the Gettysburg area for tne past 12 years. iMrs. Purdy was a member of lt;the Gettysburg Church of the 1 Brethren,In addition to her husband, 1she is survived by a son of her 1first marriage, o Robert N. iHoover, York; a stepson, 1Eugene A, Purdy, Lodi, Calif.; 1three grandsons, one 1 stepgranddaughter and sevengreat - grandchildren Also 1surviving are these brothers lt;and sisters: Mrs. Goldie Blahaf iC.
