ARIEL T..JUEL1926 - 2006Memorial services for ArielT. “Ted” Juel, HO, Sacramento, CA, formerly of Humboldt, were held Saturday. June 16, at the Traer United Methodist C hurch in Traer. He died I hursday, Apnl 13, 2006, in Sacramento, CA.Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, the former Marjorie Henry of Traer; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and liric Crabb of New Jersey,Linda and Hossam Buzgheia and Teresa and Mitchell Scott; grandchildren, Xecky,Kelly Ann, Vanessa,Nadia, Derek, Sara,and Jake, all of ( ali fornia; a sister and brother-in-law, Vere-na and Harold Vorba; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Janet Austin of Nora Springs.Ariel Theodore Juel, son of Godfrey and Malxd Juel of Dikewas born in Dike and graduatedfrom Traer High School in 1943, where he received many honors, including the “Bruce Hriksson” award.He served in the United States Navy during World War II He was an electrician aboard the USS Indianapolis, when it sailed out of San Francisco in 1945, and set a speed record to Pearl Harbor,which has never been broken.Ted received his B.A. degree from Iowa State Teachers (’ollege in 1949, and Ins M.A. degree inEducation in 1959. He was a teacher, coach anil junior high school principal while living inHumboldt from 1949-63,The family moved to California in 1963, when he received a National Science Foundation Scholarship to study “new math at San Jose State. I le taught mathand history in San Josefor 26 years, retiring in 1990.He served as president of the SanJose Teachers Association from 1977-79. Tedwill be remembered as an outstanding studentathlete at Traer HighSchool, a devoted husband and loving father,a dedicated teacher,and man of high moral character and greatintegrity.He enjoyed singing, dancing, the Oakland A's, traveling, golfing. antiquing, and “collecting.” His infectious laugh and great sense of humor will be greatly missed by friends and family.
