Ostebees havegolden weddingIRWIN —- rMr and Mrs Lars Ostebee observed -their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon, June 6, with open house «t St Paul's Lutheran Church attended by approximately 200 friends and relatives.»Mr land Mrs Russell Nelson, brother and sister-in-law of the couple, were host and hostess. Mrs Mollic Knudson, a $ sister, registered the guests who 4 were from Omaha, Nebr.; WiH-mar, Lakefield and Cosmos, Minn.; Corning, Ellsworth, Harlan, Audubon, Schleswig, Manning, Botna, Kkkman and Irwin.The gift table was centered with ia driftwood money tree. Many of the family's pictures were on display there also. Mrs 1 Thomas Nelson, a sister-in-law, and grandsons Larry and Steven Christensen opened and displayed gifts and cards. Mer-lene Ostebee and Timothy Christensen, grandsons, were gift runners.* A program was presented with their son, Loren Ostebee, M master of ceremonies. Included were a welcome by Lori ^.Christensen; two songs bygranddaughters Marlene and Eileen Ostebee and Lori Christensen; i solo sung by Chris Sorensen, a son-in-law; an account of the couple’s first date read by Loren Ostebee; a solo ,by Marten Ostebee; two songs by Mrs Howard Mickelsen and Mrs Carroll Kallevig nieces, s How*tnd Mrs Howard Clark;' Kcnard Christensen, a son-in-law, read an account of the .couple’s wedding and a poem; Itev. lames Warren accompanied by Ms wife, Helen, (a anddaughter sang “Until a leading .was given Mertem Ostebee; Loren introduced members of family and other relatives; talk was gtren by Rev. Johnik. The program concluded with a thank you by Lars Ostebee.The refreshment tabic, overlaid with white linen, was centered with a three-tiered cake surrunded by five heart-shaped cakes, each bearing the name of one of the children of the honored couple. The cakes were baked, decorated and served -by Mrs Magnus- Ostebee and iMrs Chris Sorensen. Mrs Loren Ostebee dipped punch, Mrs James Warren assisted with sandwiches, Mrs Louis Ho-denfield served ice cream and Mrs Kcnard Christensen poured coffee.Assisting in the dining room wore neices, Mrs Leo Engle, Julie, Colocn lt;and Linda Nelson, Mrs John Erickson and Mrs Merlyn Ostebee, In the kitchen were cousins, Mrs George Ax-land, Mrs Alfred Paulsen, Mrs Edwin Monsun, Mrs Cora Benson, Mrs Jesse Benson, Mrs Nels Jensen, Mrs Grace Rush-etiberg, Mrs iMable Monson and Mrs Howard Mickelson.Mr and Mrs Ostebee were married February 24, 1915, at the home of the ibride’s parents,Mr and Mrs Tom Nelson. The Rev. J. O, Wanbcrg, now retired and living in Council Bluffs, performed the ceremony. Best man was Sam Ostebee and the bride’s attendant was Mrs Isabel! Wiig.The couple have two sons, Magnus of Audubon and Loren of Irwin, and three daughters Inez (Mrs Chris Sorensen) of Botna, Judy (Mrs Kcnard Chris-tensen) of Harlan, and Margaret (Mrs Ivan Cook) of ‘Phoenix, Ariz. They also have twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They have lived in Shelby County all their married life.I
