Mass choir concert setvMALONE - “Favorite Hymns of Early America” will be featured at an 8 p.m. Sunday Bicentennial Mass Choir concert at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Malone. The choir is comprised of 50 stagers from five participating churches,Favorite Hymns of Early America” covers the period of early American music from 1780 to 1805. Edgar Thiessenand Miss Janet Melli, choir director and organist respectively at St. John United Church of Christ, New Holstein, will serve in the same capacities for the concert. The songs in the book will be done in two-part to six-part harmony, and the rafters are expected to ring.”Narrators between numbers will be Lyle Sattler and Neale Jensen of St. Paul’s congregation. Other churches participating are: St. John United Church of Christ, New Holstein; Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Chilton; BethelUnited Methodist Church, Meggers; and United Presbyterian Church of Kiel.The Rev. Quentin Moeseh-berger, pastor of Ebenezer UCC of Chilton, will give the invocation.It has been learned through the Rev. Donald Hinze, Appleton, Northeastern Wisconsin Association executive pastor of the United Church of Christ, that Jeff Nichols, a seminarian from Pacific School o f Religion, Berkeley, Calif., will assume pastoral duties at St.Paul’s UCC as Of Aug. 1. Although he will not be graduated officially from Pacific School of Religion in California, the young seminarian will be able to commute to Chicago to complete studies for his final credits.St. Pauls’ congregation has been served by interim pastors and guest speakers since the former pastor, the Rev. Carl Fried, retired from the ministry Nov. 30, 1975, moving from Malone to a retirement community at Bensonville, 111.
