Local couple celebrates 75 years togetherBy ADEENA HARBSTEditorTuesday was a special day for Epworth Manor residents Chester and Helen Amick — they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, complete with friends, cake, and a kiss.The Amicks were married on June 10, 1939 and had three children: Sally (Amick) Russ of South Carolina, William Amick of Lanse, PA, and Richard Amick who is deceased.The couple were given a certificate on Tuesday by Tyrone Mayor Bill Fink, reading, “William Fink, Mayor, on behalf of the Borough of Tyrone, hereby proudly extends formal congratulations to Chester and Helen (Kurtz) Amick) on the occasion of their 75th wedding anniversary.“Chester and Helen, being married 75 years, have reached a pinnacle unseen by many and is recognized as the ‘Platinum Anniversary' and should be celebrated as such.”The couple enjoyed a turkey dinner with fellow residents, and had an anniversary cake made by an(Continued on page 3)Chester and Helen Amick of Epworth Manor celebrated 75 years of marriage on Tuesday.
