ytocR tar men to do Staged Here Tonight; Cuba Races TomorrowTwo thrilling programs of stock Car races are scheduled in Allegany County over the weekend.The program opens tonight at 8 o’clock at the Wellsville Raceway with only late model stocks eligible.Tomorrow modified stocks will compete at 2:30 o’clock at Cuba Lake Raceway.The dates for these two race programs were reversed in last night’s advertisement.Tonight marks the start of the racing season at Wellsville Race* way. Included in the competition will be several local drivers, foremost among these are the racing Layfidld brothers who drive-a ’55 Mercury and ’52 Hudson. John Gosticy will drive a *49 Mercury, Floyd Green, from Seio, chauffeurs a *49 Packard and Jack Thomas, a crowd pleasing driver, will drive a ’46 Ford.One unusual feature of the race will consist of a new *55 Chevrolet which will be driven by *‘Gib” Messier from Bradofrd, Pa. This car has been taken from the showroom.. This promises to be one of the most attractive cards of the year as Wellsville is known for its fast, action filled, track. This is one of the best half mile tracks in western New York and should, furnish the fans with penty of thrills.Promoter, Vince Rasmusson of Ctlba Lake Raceway is also sponsoring this show which brings late model cars to this area for the first time. Vince and his crew have the track in excellent condition. Many tons of calcium have been applied to keep the dust at a minimum.
