CONCERT AT METHODIST CHURCHThe program given last evening at Centenary M. K. church by the talent of Wesleyan university was exceptionally good. It was given under the auspices of the Ladies* Aid society of Centenary, andwhile the audience was not as large1as could have been wished, it was a very appreciative one and nearly all of the performers responded to encores. The reader, Miss Mayme Liston, our own Beatrice girl, was; greeted with applause on her ap-| pearance on the platform. Herfriends readily observe her continued improvement. Her ease and grace of manner is very winning. She is particularly good in her announcement and explanations of her roles and the synopsis she sometimes gives adds a great deal more than as merely explanatory. In a medley she ran through the gamut from the sublime to the ridiculous with equal ability. The Kowdon quartet was fine in I every number, particularly in the i last, “Good Night.’*Mr. Mailley, the baritone soloist, won a great deal of applause by his beautiful selections and his big, resonant, mellow voice. Assecond tenor Mr. Antoine Hillyer showed also a very clear, sweet voice, and his double solo, “A Treasured Mower** and “This Would 1 Do, was very fine.Mr. Clem Towner as a pianist is brilliant in his execution, and his technique is that of a master hand. The entertainment, like all that these ladies bring to us,was worth more than the price of admission.
