JOHN LETKEMANShell Lake Couple Honoured On 50th AnniversaryFriends and relatives gathered for a supper in the Shell Lake Co-op hall on May 15th in honor of Mr. Mrs. John Letkeman on their 50th wedding anniversary. Corsages were pinned on'the couple as they entered the hall by Elma Nelson and John Jr. They were escorted to the head table and seated with their family. The hepd table was centered with a 3 tifer wedding cake and gold and white candles. Grace was said by Rev. Hammond of Spiritwood.M.C. for the evening was Leonard Letkemap, nephew'of the couple. Following the supper a program was presented. A poem was read by Mrs. Lena Funk of Saskatoon. Items of singing, special music, poems and dancing were presented by the grandchildren. Mrs. Eiline Morrow presented the couple with a purse of moneyon behalf of the community. The children gave their parents matching gold wedding bands. Mr. Letkeman expressed their thanks for the evening and all the lovely gifts.Out of town guests at the anniversary were from Waterloo, Ont., Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Bordon, Martensville, Mayfair and Spiritwood.Sarah Buhr and John Letke-%man were married in Shell-brook May 13, 1927. They lived on a farm in the Shell Lake area until they retired in the village in 1966. The couple have 4 children: John Jr. of Shell Lake, Elma of Spiritwood, Alvin and Sam of Saskatoon; also two foster daughters, Minnie Garner of Saskatoon and Louise Garmon living in Trinidad.They have 18 grandchildren all of whom were present at the party, except Louise and Lahy Garmon and daughter Gena.Mrs. Letkeman’s cousin Mildred Mulligan, came from Waterloo, her home in Ontario for the occasion. Sara and Mildred had not seen each other for 55 years. Another cousin of Sara’s was present from Winnipeg whom she had never met before.
