Chester E. ScottMemorial service for Dr. Chester Eugene Scott, 72, a former Garden City resident, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Salma. The Revs. Paul Mugler and Garlen Howington will officiate. Burial will be private.Mr. Scott died Monday, June 3, 1996, at his home in Salina.He was born July 3,1923, at Peabody, the son of Dr. Ira Oscar and Kathryn Haney Scott.A1951 graduate of Kansas University Medical School, he hat. been a family practice physician in Salina for 36 years.Mr. Scott was a member of Christian Medical and Dental Association, Saline County Medical Society, Kansas Medical Society, American Medical Association, and American Academy of Family Practitioners.He also belonged to Sunflower Lions Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Gideons, Salina First United Methodist Church, and was a Navy veteran of World Warn.Survivors are his wife, Marie Ellen Logan Scott; a son, Chester E. Scott II, Powell, Ohio; two daughters, Kathryn Ann Peiffer, Loveland, Colo., and Mary Marie Robinson, Topeka; two brothers, Dr. Ira Oscar Scott, New York City, and Dr. Robert Haney Scott, Macau, China; and seven grandchildren.He was preceded in death by two sons, David Michael Scott and Charles Godwin Scott.Visitation will be at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The family will receive friends in the church’s fellowship hall following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Gideons, Hospice of Salina, First United Methodist Church or Fellowship Baptist Church, all in care of the mortuary
