Myrtle Virginia (Itoigg) Singhass turned 100 years old May 28 at Dawn-view Center. Singhass is the daughter of the late Charlie and Bessie TWigg. Her great-grandparents came from Ohio to West Virginia in a covered wagon and built the house that Singhass now owns. Singhass was bom in West Virginia and has always been a resident there. Singhass is the mother of Allen Singhass and wife Barbara; Etta Mae Shan-hottz; Nan Padgett and husband Pat; and Whitney Singhass. One son, Roger Dale Singhass, is deceased. She also has six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. When asked what she thought of turning 100, Singhass said, “I can’t believe it! Working hard is why I made it” Singhass stays active at Dawnvfew, where she attends bingo and domino games, Pretty Nails, music parties and Bible study. Recently, the Dawn view staff made her favorite recipe, “Mom’s Hound Ears,” in cooking class.
