Aylor Middle School’s band director has accepted a position in Loudoun County, at the new Harmony Intermediate School in Pur-cellville.“What better school for a band director then one that’s called Harmony,” Shoremount said from his office last week. ,Deciding to leave Aylor, though, wasn’t easy.“It’s hard to walk awayfrom 16 years of life,” Shoremount said. “I look in the band room and see all the trophies, and know they represent a lot of work.”Shoremount, 48 and a New York native, came to the Winchester area in 1971 to attend Shenandoah University-“It was called ShenandoahConservatory then,” Shoremount said.Four years later, Shoremount, who plays trombone and whose personal music interest leans toward jazz, earned a bachelor’s degree in music education and headed back north.“I played in quite a fewSee Bowing Page A7Bowing OutAylor’s Band Director Moves On to Find HarmonyRobert E.
