CADET CORPS TAKES PART IN MEMORIAL DAY PARADEBy Harry Schweppe. / lt;i. Following a hearty breakfast on■Memorial Day morning, the cadet corps formed on the company streets in full dress. The formation was in preparation for participation in the4 *’annual Memorial Day Parade in Upper Alton.The corps left school at 8:00 A. M. and proceeded to Brown and Main Streets where the parade was formed. On the way over, the cadets practiced the slow funeral march cadence• awhich was to be executed upon entering the cemetery. At 9:00 A. M. the parade got under way. Col. C. H. Moore, Commandant of Cadets, acted as Grand Marshal. Many organizations of both wars and others partic-* . .ipated in the parade, which was led by the Western corps. Along withthe Western band there was the Al-* ■ton High School Band, the Alton Municipal Band, Upper Alton Drum and Bugle Band, and the American Legion Drum and Bugle Band. Various veteran groups as well as boy and girl scout troops marched in the parade.The parade wound through Upper Alton and ended at the cemetery.
