County CommencementThe Annual County Commencement was held Saturday afternooon. May 31 at Fair Ground Park, under the direction of County Supt.. L. B. Mather.The exercises were held at the grand stand. More than a thousand people were present. The class of 200 boys and girls finishing the eighth grade in the various schools of the county, represented many rural homes and school districts from the center to the boundaries of the county. The graduates were seated by townships.Music for the occasion was furnished by the Riester orchestra of twelve pieces. The Rev. S. S. Lappin, pastor of the First Christian church of Bedford gave the commencement address. The theme of his discourse touching on citizenship, was “The Requirements of America. from a broad standard and viewpoint.Supt. Mather presented the diplomas, by townships and assistance of township trustees in distributing the diplomas. All the graduates were present but three. After adjournment the photographer, Mr. Otto White of North Vernon took their pictures.Thanks is extended to E. F.
