Campbell aDd Wife who live some four miles south of this village. Mr. Campbell j is 80 years old and his wife 68. They were married in Ireland on the 3rd of .June, 1824—just 50 years ago. They came to America 14 years ago. His friends told him that he wouldn’t live long if he came to America, but he says he “ has baffled all their calculations. Mr. Campbell has spent more than 50 years of his life in school teaching. Even at the advanced age of 80 he writes a hand that few people in the land can equal. He has presented us the following passage of scripture written so neatly that we make this proposition to test the shill of our young people :Any young man or woman under 21 years of age who will before the first day of July send us the same passage as nicely written as Mr. Campbell’s shall have the Grand Traverse Herald one year without charge. We extend the offer to the best three competitors, provided each shall equal Mr. C’s. Prof. Roberts shall act as judge. The passage is as follows .Thou shall rise up before the hoary head and honor the face of the old man.Now, yonug ladies and gentlemen, let us see how well you can write !Mr. Campbell shall have the paper too, for our opinion is he’s a match for the best of them.
