40th anniversary celebratedMr. and Mrs. Winford P. Southern, 1006 Valley, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at a surprise party May 20 at the home of their son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. George Southern, 812 Walnut.Co-hosts and hostesses were Mr and Mrs. Gene Southern, 510 East Fifteenth and Mr. and Mrs. Iarrv Southern, Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Southern,Vienna, Va., were unable to attend.Mr. and Mrs. Southern were married May 20, 1931, at Carthage.Attending were Mrs. M. L. Bayless, 1121 Baker; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Greninger, Jasper, and Mrs. Ruby Hughey and Miss Marilyn Hughey, both of Webb City. — Taylor photo.
