50th anniversaryopen house setMr. and Mrs. Leo H. (Naoni) Pickar Sr. of RD 2, Dundee, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, will be guests of honor at an open house June 9 from 4 to 7 p.m.The event, preceded by a family dinner, will be hosted in the Strasburg Fire Station by their children, Mr. and Mrs. John (Donna) Pickar of Benton Harbor, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Elwood (Ruth) Farnsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Jack (Laura) Harvey and Mr. and Mrs. Leo (Alice) Pickar Jr. of Dundee; Mr. and Mrs. David (Judy) Pickar and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie (Martha) Knight of Beach City; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne (Norberta) Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Yvonne) Schaub and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Naomi) France of Massillon; and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald (Donna) Bayer of Canton. Another daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gus (Leona) Hatjes of Massillon, are deceased. The couple have 37 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.The former Naoni Slayman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Sarah) Slayman of Beach City, and Leo, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John (Anna) Pickar of Baraboo, Wis., were united in marriage June 8, 1929, in St. Clements Church at Navarre. Fr. Richard Roth was officiant.Mrs. Pickar attends Free Will Baptist Church in Dover. Mr. Pickar retired in 1966 after working 27 years at Republic Steel in Massillon.
