kDEER CREEKThe celebration of their golden wed-din}? by Mr. and Mrs, Peter Urey at their pleasant country home norteast of Sandy Lake on Wednesday, May 25, .was an interesting and enjoyable event.I Tho near relatives of both Mr. and Mi's. Urey including their three children and two grand children, brothers, sls-: tors, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families were present. Many beautiful ! flowers of yellow roses, peonies, snow j balls, etc. A very pretty, largo and most excellent birthday cako of .gold and while with tho year of their marriage, 1871,, in pink icing was made by Mrs. I Clair Cochran of Carlton, a nieco of I Mr, and Mrs. Urey, who is an expert in cako making and in tho culinary art. i A bountiful and excellent dinner was ' served at noon with delieiouB ice cream, 4 write and watermelon for desert, after which Hon. J. W, Canon, a brother of , Mrs. Urey, made a very, amusing, interesting ancl appropriate speech in which its paid pretty tribute to the bride and groom of 50 years for their ; many years of prosperous and useful j married life and said, their success was | due to the I'nct that they obeyed tho i golden rule and done unto others as ' they would have others do to them. Mr. ! and Mrs. Urey were presented with a .11 Ice sunt of handsome gold pieces, j Some excellent music was furnished by Mrs.. Dr, P. D. Urey of Now Castle, Robin Canon and others. A number of songs including “Silver Threads Among • tho Gold,” “Put Oh Your Old Gray. Bonnot,” Old Folks at Home, “God Bo ' With You Till We Moot Again, etix, \ wore much enjoyed by all. j . After, a general sociable good time •and cbngratuling the bride and groom the guests departed for their homes hav* ,lng spent a delightful daylong to bo ! remembered. Much praise and credit is duo Mrs, Prof, S.' A, Mahle, Mrs. Dr. F, D. Urey, Hon, J. W.
