4URSDAY, JULY 31, 1941Surprise . *r,.yOn AnnivenaryFifty-five friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Albrecht attended a surprise party July 20 in honor of their 34th wedding an-niveraary. The celebration too,1; place at the Ajbrecht home on Broadway.The “Surprise’* element was a huge success. The Albrechts, having attended a Sunday school picnic in the afternoon, were returning home at 8 o’clock . . and as they entered the living room where the guests were assembled, Mrs. Cora Haase played the wedding march, following w'hich two of the daughters, Mrs. Lois Holmstrom and Mrs. Gertrude Coughlin sang “I Love You Truly” and “When Your Hair Has Turned to Silver.” Amid overwhelming congratulations, a beautiful corsage w-as tions, a beautiful corsage was pinned on Mrs. Albrecht and a boutonniere placed in Mr. Albrecht's lapel. Many gifts were presented, including several lovely bouquets The dining room, appropriately decorated for the occasion, was dominated by a magnificent anniversary cake until the buffet lunch was served at 11 o’clock by the three daughters, Lois, Gertrude, and Helen and daughters-in-law. Bernice and Sadie.Among those present were (addresses ere Blue Island unless otherwise given) Mr. and Mrs. Otto i Albrecht; 78-year old “Auntie’’ Haemker of Crete and her son and daughter, Gus Haemker and Anna Haemker; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Piepenbrink, Crete; Mr. and Mrs. John Mulderink and three daughters; Mrs. Gertrude Fitzpatrick and her daughter Gertrude; Mr.I and Mrs. Joseph Coughlin. Chicago; Mrs. May Goldthorpe; Mr. and Mrs. John Haase and son, Jack; Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Holmstrom;, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Helwig and i family, Chicago; Mrs. Gertrde Al-i, brecht. Chicago; Mrs Katherine i Christoffel, Chicago; Mrs. Alvina Kindenberg, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hoffman, Chicago; Mrs. Martha Lorenz and children Harold and Grace; daughters and their husbands. Mr. and Mr.. Walter A.1 Holmstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph■ Coughlin, and Mrs. Keeshan; sons ’ and their wives. Mr. and Mrs,James I. Albrecht, and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Albrecht, Jr., Robert O. Albrecht and Donald Al-■ brecht; and grandchildren.’ Mr. and Mrs. Albrecht have been residents of Blue Island for over 30 years have seven children, four boys and three girls, and eight grandchildren.
