His father came from Norway and settled In Ephraim sometime before this. The son was baptized by the first Moravian pastor of Ephraim, the Rev.A. M. Iverson, on Sept. 13, 1857, jSI and was confirmed by the Rev. J. J. Groenfeldt on Dec. 10, 1871. . aiOn July 26, 1878, he was united |8l in marriage to Miss Hedvig Elizabeth Ohman in the Ephraim Moravian 1 F church by Pastor J. J. Groenfeldt.] g This was a double wedding, Mr. Goodlet’s 8ister, Anna Christina, be-) e, ing married to a Ole Olson on the same occasion. Mrs. Goodlet was | born on July 8. 1857 .three days after her husband, near the city of Guttenburg, Sweden, and came toj-the United States when about 15 years of age with her mother. Her father Svente Ohman, had come to the United States some years pre-| viously, and settled on what is now known as the Jensen farm here.Mr. and Mrs. Goodlet have for long years been beloved citizens of Ephraim, and Mr. Goodlet has hed many public offices for the township or village. For many years Mr. Goodlet was justice of the peace and dssessor for the town. He has been the school treasurer for a good . many years, and still Is, while for many years he served aB trustee of the Epfiralm Moravian church and now is an elder.• In his earlier days Mr, Goodlet sailed on the Great Lakes and owned a Bailing vessel, the “Norman”, for a while. In addition to this he has done considerable farming.. There were ten children bom to the couple, all of whom are alive, ,and all of whom are expected home for the golden wedding. This will be the first family reunion in year3,the entire family having never been* •together since the children began to move away.The -following are the children in order according to age: Edith (jMra. Ben Hogenson) .of Racine; Emma . (Mrs. William Johnson) of South• lBend, Indiana; Edgar, first mate sailing for the U. S. Shipping board, generally from New York; Hilda (Mrs. B. J: Glaser) of Chicago; Elmer, first mate, and sometimes captain, sailing for the U. S. Shipping board, generally from New Orleans; Lily, of DePue, 111., occupation nurse for a commercial zinc company; Alice (Mrs. E. B. White) of Oak Park, 111.;/Florence (Mrs. Gus. Hag-man) of Chicago; Wilfred, first mate, sailing on the Great Lakes; Ella Mae, single, occupation school teacher al Wauwautosa. Wis.. The couple also has 15 grandchildren.The wedding celebration Will consist chiefly of a sumptuous dinner around a large willow tree near the Goodlet home here, the tables being probably arranged in the form of a horseshoe. There will probably be about 75 invited guests at the dinner at 12 noon, including the immediate family and relatives, as well as some who were at the original wedding fifty years ago, among thp latter being Mr. and Mrs. Martin Olson of Ellison Bay, Mrs. Ole Hanson of Ephraim, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Oneson of Ephraim. On the center of the table will be a large 20 pound fruit cake consisting of 3lx deep layers and baked and decorated for the occasion by Al Paschke ef the Brookslde Tea gardens. In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Goodlet will be home to receive their many friendB in Ephraim and surrounding vicinity, and ice cream and cake will be served. .
