Three were presented and two were accepted. Bpth Recorder Phillips and City Engineer Brown are about to depart from the city and the acceptance of their resignation^ came as a matter of course. The resignations of B. E. Savery as chief of the fire department was not accepted.°Dr. J. C. Gleason was appointed to fill the vacancy in the recorder’s office and will preside over the judicial department of the municipality on and after August 1st. It was expected that the board would be called upon to decide between ,two applicants for this office, but the petition that had been circulated for C. B. Webster was, for some reason or other, not presented. The detailed proceedings of the board were as follows:Adjourned regular meeting, held at city hall, Friday evening July ID, 1901. Present, Trustees Kelley, McVicar, Compton, Corkhill and Moore.Petition from the citizens of Corona that J. C. Gleason be appointed city recorder, read and tiled.Resignation of Will L. Brown, ascity engineer, read and filed.Resignation of B. E. Savery as chief of Corona fire department read and filed.Resignation of A, M. Phillips as city recorder to take effect August 1st, read tiled.M. W. Findley and B. N. Tucker appeared before the board to request the oiling of Railroad street at the expense of the city.
