Tbe murdered man was about 55 years of age and a common laborer, who, however, was at one tima a section boss on a railroad, but through his insobriety and dissipation he was discharged. Since then he has been doing odd j obs whenever to be found. His wife, who survives him, was his second, having married her about ten years ago. Three children was the result of that union, the youngest being about 2*^ years old. A son by his first wife resided with him and a daughter, Miss Mary, resides with an aunt at Shullsburg, Wis., who has been telegraphed for. A brother named Jerry Harrington lives somewhere in Wisconsin andalso a sister named Mrs. John Hullivan. He has other relatives who have been notified by wire.Tony Pfieffer is one of the toughest characters in the city. He served a term of six months in the penitentiary for robbery. He was also the central figure in a very disgraceful row which occurred at the Milwaukee depot about two years ago in which he had a narrow escape with his life.
