Dyson, who has lived in Coryell County since 1892, was honored on his 96th birthday anniversary Tuesday even-, ing with a family party at the home of his son, Edwin Dyson, southwest of Gatesville.Dyson, a retired cotton ginner, farmer and rancher, is one of this area’s oldest residents. Still active despite his advanced age, he is at his home west of town during days but spends the nights in the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. T, Perryman, in Gatesville.Dyson was born in Lafayette County, Mis s., in 1868, just a few years after the end of the Civil War. He wras reared in Mississippi and came to Coryell County 72 years ago.For many years he owned and operated a cotton gin in the King community. In 1921 he bought the gin in the Plainview community. Back in those years, cotton was this area’s major money crop.Dyson retired several years ago. His wife died last May.He has eight children, 19 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.
